Georgia's former defense minister Irakly Okruashvili, who set up the "Movement for United Georgia" Opposition Party has decided to quit the political arena at this point, one of the Party leaders, lawmaker Koka Guntadze, told a news briefing here on Thursday.

In September 2007, the co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) praised Georgia for its “stunning progress” in its reforms since the Rose Revolution, citing the country as an example for the whole region and beyond. |
