Moldova is open to the world. It is a member of the World Trade Organisation with a low level of tariff measures for the protection of the internal market," President Vladimir Voronin said in a speech delivered at the fourth issue of the International Investment Forum titled "Moldova - a new challenge at the borders of the European Union", held in Chisinau today.
Voronin highlighted that year by year, Moldova ranks increasingly higher in the business freedom rating, having much better results than other countries in the region. "I am convinced that the today s forum will arouse the interest of the community of investors and will be able to give answers to all your questions related to the investment process in our country," Voronin said.
Addressing the participants in the forum, Economics and Trade Minister Igor Dodon said Moldova is the only European country having the possibility of exporting its goods both to the East and the West under free trade terms with no customs duties. "So far, Moldova has signed a free trade agreement for the CIS markets, a preferential trade agreement GSP Plus for the EU markets and currently we are on our home straight with the negotiations on the asymmetric trade with the EU". Moldova has recently signed the multilateral Central European Free Trade Agreement and Turkey has offered to Moldova its unilateral preferential trade regime, Dodon specified.
