Two Departments of Barclays Bank of Ghana Limited, Corporate Credit and Retail Risk have donated items worth GHC 1500 to the Orphanage Africa at Ayikuma near Madina. The donation is part of various community projects to be undertaken by the departments this year; the next donation will be made to the Borstal Institute Juvenile Prison in November. The items include writing desks and board.

Presenting the items, Mr. Theophilus Aryee, Coaching and Supporting Manager Corporate Credit of Barclays Bank of Ghana, urged the staff of the orphanage to make good use of the items. He commended the staff for their good work and dedication to improve the lives of the children. A Manager at Retail Credit Mr. Ebenezer Nunoofio, advised the kids to stay away from social vices, and implored them to study hard to become better citizens.

The staff of the two departments of Barclays also interacted with the children. An ultra modern white writing board purchased for the school by the two departments was mounted. The Orphanage Africa is non-profit, non-governmental organization that aims to support and create self-sufficient sustainable orphanages in Ghana and Africa. The orphanage provides accommodation and teaching facilities to orphans particularly those with HIV/AIDS.
