Namibia: Top Estate Agents Honoured

The ninth annual Bank Windhoek Estate Agents Awards were held in Windhoek on Friday. The awards are aimed at giving recognition to real estate agents, agencies and developers for their commitment and support towards Bank Windhoek and its clients and to strengthen partnership with the industry. "The constant influx of people to the city and the restrictive factor in the availability of land causes an enormous demand for houses in middle and lower income brackets," said Chris Mattee, Divisional Executive of Bank Windhoek's Specialist Finance Division.
A cash prize of N$100 000 was handed out to achiever of the year in the residential category of estate agents situated in the Windhoek and coastal areas. Joseph & Snyman won the top Estate Agency of the year in the Windhoek region and coastal region, while Attie Ras Properties in Grootfontein won top estate agency of the year for other regions.
In the Windhoek and Coastal regions, Lisa Engels Properties won achiever of the year in the residential finance category,while Jonathan Basson of No1 Estates took the the achiever of the year in the commercial finance category while Claud Bosch took achiever of the year in the development finance category. Mattee noted that although recent interest rate hikes and the resulting effect on the affordability levels of individuals have slowed down, activities in the home loan market property remained an excellent investment and the demand for residential property in Windhoek and other major centres was still exceedeing the supply.
