Antigua and Barbuda receives major support from China

Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer, the chairman of the Group of 77 (G77) and China at the United Nations (UN), recently accepted a cheque from the People’s Republic of China as its contribution towards the business of the grouping.
Chinese Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Wang Guangya presented Prime Minister Spencer with a cheque for US$40,000 as his country’s contribution to the Economic Co-operation among Developing Countries (ECDC) account of the Group of 77. As he presented the cheque, Ambassador Wang congratulated Antigua and Barbuda on its assumption of the chairmanship of the G77 and pledged the full co-operation of the Chinese delegation throughout the year.
Prime Minister Spencer commended the Chinese ambassador for his country’s show of support and said that Antigua and Barbuda looks forward to the challenges of chairmanship of the body and is confident that, with the assistance of the Chinese delegation and other members of the organisation, the programme of the G77 will be completed.
