Aruba talks were ‘fruitful’

PHILIPSBURG/ARUBA--“Aruba has a lot of experiences to share as the first island that left the constellation of the Netherlands Antilles,” Constitutional Affairs Commissioner Sarah Wescot-Williams said in summing up her recent working visit to that island.
The visit was also important for the St. Maarten delegation because Aruba is party to all discussions that will change the make-up of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. “St. Maarten is seeking to establish protocols and agreements on services and institutions within and outside of the Kingdom, to guarantee these services to the people of St. Maarten. In this respect too, Aruba is a natural partner,” Wescot-William said. “The Government of Aruba was very receptive towards the delegation from St. Maarten and reiterated its commitment to the government and people of St. Maarten to assist in whichever way possible.”
She met with Aruba Prime Minister Nel Oduber and Minister of Justice Rudy Croes during the visit. The Commissioner and her delegation also met with the Police Chief Commissioner Mr. de Witte.
