Dominica minister reiterates government's commitment to carnival

Minister for Culture, Loreen Bannis Roberts has reiterated the Dominican government’s commitment to the success of the Real Mas, the world’s most original carnival. The Minister was at the time delivering an address during the opening Parade of the Real Mas 2008 in Roseau recently.

“For its part, Government continues to support carnival in a tangible way. Apart from the cash contribution this year of over $300,000, Government will provide scholarships for the winners of the National Queen Show, the Teenage Pageant, the Princess Show and the junior monarch competitions,” Bannis-Roberts stated.

The Minister also used the opportunity to call upon the corporate community in Dominica to continue to play its part in the success of carnival. Special mention was made of Headline sponsor, Cable & Wireless, which has a three year sponsorship of the carnival of $575,000 ECD.
