Heir to the British throne, Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, will visit Trinidad and Tobago for four days at the invitation of the government headed by Prime Minister Patrick Manning. The visit will take place at the beginning of March. The royal visit was confirmed on Thursday by the Trinidad and Tobago Government Information Services.
It will be the most high profile visit to the country so far for the year. Plans are already being formulated for a high security detail to take effect on arrival, March 3 and during the visit of the royal couple. The couple will stay until March 6. A courtesy call will be paid to the country's head of state, President George Maxwell Richards and first lady Jean Ramjohn Richards. A courtesy call will also be paid to Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, Orville London.
According to information released by government, the visit is to further strengthen the already friendly relations between Trinidad and Tobago and the United Kingdom. Caribbean Net News understands that, during his four-day visit, Prince Charles will focus on youth development, protection of the environment, culture as well as sports.
