A previously announced four-vote victory by a key opposition candidate in the Marshall Islands election has been overturned in a recount.
   

Opposition Takes Control Of Marshall Islands Government

After an eight year absence, the Aelon Kein Ad (Our Islands) party is back in power in the Marshall Islands, with the election of former Speaker Litokwa Tomeing as President on Monday afternoon in Majuro. Tomeing defeated two-term incumbent Kessai Note by the slim margin of 18-15 in Monday's parliamentary vote.

Marshall Islands election decision overturned

A previously announced four-vote victory by a key opposition candidate in the Marshall Islands election has been overturned in a recount. The recount, which ended early Saturday morning, gives the incumbent cabinet ministers a six-vote win, and increases the likelihood that the governing United Democratic Party will return for a third term.
